Experience
Hello, my name is Casondra. I was first introduced to tutoring when I participated in a dual credit program my senior year of high school (this past school year) at St Cloud State University or SCSU. It was here that I was offered the unique opportunity to tutor college students because of the high recommendation and grade I received from one of my professors in a fall semester course. At SCSU I was a history tutor - more specifically focusing from the beginning of recorded history through the United States' Civil War. I assisted students with writing papers about discussion prompts related to weekly material, how to properly read a chapter and take notes, as well as analyze the time period to fully understand material from a social, economic, and political effects it had on the United States of America. But besides tutoring history, I have also tutored in English. Some things I was asked to help with included: proofreading, brainstorming, and outlining ideas, as well as writing essays and papers, citing sources correctly, thesis writing, revising a rough draft paper, and being able to analyze and write or discuss assigned novels. I helped with other things as well, but that list includes a majority of the issues I was able to help students with as needed. One of the main reasons I decided to continue to tutor is because I strive to help others succeed academically and get the help the need in a way they can easily understand. I also enjoy tutoring because I teach others things they can use in other subjects throughout school - not just for a topic(s) they may be struggling with. Being a tutor has helped me become more responsible, dedicated, respectful, and helpful to those who may need it most.
